Rebecca Rushton –
This is a fantastic pattern and a pleasure to sew up. Clear and simple instructions, I made straight leg with waist and back pockets in a stretch denim . This is miss 4s favorite pants at the moment, will definitely make some more.
Yulia Ashirova –
Great fit and comfortable to wear. I made wide leg pants with inseam pockets. It turned out very nice in corduroy.
kirsty –
These are great pants for a tween who is into 90s style. Mine made herself two pairs in the wide leg style from denim. She loves the pockets and the instructions were nice and clear, easy for her to sew on her own.
Sally Stevens –
I love this pattern with so many options included! I’ve made the wide leg pants for my son in a size 2 with front and back patch pockets. The construction of the front pocket is brilliant and so simple and clean looking. Can’t wait to make a tapered pair with paper bag waist for my daughter.
Lesley Raadschelders –
I love these trousers! They are a breeze to sew with the clear instructions! I made the tapered 3/4 leg with a paperbag waist, it’s the perfect play pants for my wild child!
alison Donnelly –
Another fantastic pattern! I’ve sewn both the wide leg and the tapered option, my 4 year old’s current favourites are tapered with waist pockets sewn in suiting material to match Daddy!
Wonderful tutorial, and a great way to try different pockets out!
cemerson943 –
Love these pants! It’s so nice to have some pants for my daughter that aren’t leggings or jeans. I made the tapered leg with inseam pockets – these are my daughter’s favourite part. Yet another great BTK pattern 😊

Loved making the wide version of these trousers in a size 4 for my little girl. I made them in a pinstyle corduroy and they’re the perfect pair of trousers to dress up.
lizmedlin92 –
Love this new pattern. It was a really quick and easy make. The instructions are simple and clear and have some really good tips to give them a professional finish. I made the tapered leg wth in-seam pockets in a jumbo corduroy. I did a size 3 for my 3.5 “average” sized grandaughter and they fit her perfectly.
Hanna Lin –
I made these from a soft flannel into pyjama pants for my boy.
I did a wide leg with no pockets, so sewing was super quick and straight forward.
The tutorial, as always, was very clear and helpful and resulted in a very nicely finished pair of pants.

A really gorgeous pattern that is so easy, yet has such a satisfying result. These trousers are really on trend – I sewed both the wide legs with seam pockets and the tapered 3/4 with waist pockets. Both versions are beaitiful and I can’t wait to mix and match different versions with different pocket styles. I also love that they look good on boys and girls. Another BTK staple for my pattern collection for sure!
Deb Fothergill –
This is a great pattern with so many options. The full length tapered length is such a practical design and the front pockets are the perfect addition! I made in mid weight linen and am already planning my next pair in corduroy for winter!
jillsauve –
Another wonderful versatile pattern from BTK! From cutting to finish, I made the tapered leg version size 12, inseam and two back pockets-in a couple of hours. Beginner to advanced sewists will LOVE the many options available in this pattern. A unisex pattern for all seasons, with detailed instructions – this pattern will become a favorite for you to sew.
Linda Harmer –
I sewed up a full length tapered version for my one year old, and I couldn’t pass up the inseam pockets! I’ve never sewn pockets this easy, and my daughter loves them.
Jess –
I’ve made this pattern twice – the tapered leg with waist pockets and a paperbag waist (included in the instructions) in linen and in the wide leg with exposed waist pockets in denim. It is a lovely and versatile pattern and super comfy for my kids. The fit is great and the instructions are top notch. I love that it comes with a projector file (a good one!) and is a quick and simple sew.
Vanessa Ting –
I loved how easy this was to make, and learnt 3 different ways of making pockets. I made both the tapered and wide leg versions and fit was great for my active daughter who also loved the pockets. Great scrap buster too for the smaller sizes.
prudi13 –
Fabulous pattern with such a huge range of options. I made the wide leg with the waist pockets (love!!) in cord and they look fabulous. Such a quick and easy sew. Can’t wait to make another pair for my daughter.
Lucy Maybank –
A wardrobe staple! All the different options included in this pattern mean that there’s a style for any occasion. I sewed the tapered version with front pockets for a great everyday wear pant.
Rebecca Blank –
What a beautifully balanced pattern! Miss 4 absolutely loves her wide leg tío, and the exposed front pockets are just perfect for a contrasting fabric, and of course for carrying around those little dollies and treasures!
anna.jem.smith –
Love these trousers! I made both the wide leg and tapered, which my daughter loved and both my boys have requested a pair. First ones I made had inseam pockets which were (as always!) great but have to say, the the front waist pockets really make it, they look fantastic and the kids enjoy turning a “normal” pair of pants (something sensible their mother has chosen 😆) into personalised ones with them choosing anything they wanted for the pockets as they are slightly exposed! Pattern, as always, are some of the clearest and easiest to follow I’ve come across and I always leave feeling like I’ve learnt more. Thanks so much Sophie!
John Hudson –
I sewed these for my 9 year son in the tapered leg with waist pockets and a fake drawstring. They came together so quickly and look lovely on.
I found the instructions really easy to follow and thought that the waist pockets were particularly clever and much easier than I imagined thanks to the clear instructions as usual.
This pattern will be used again and again for my children, so thank you for another great pattern!
Daniela Ashdown –
This is a great, versatile trouser pattern. I made the full-length tapered version for my 7 year old. They are comfortable for playing in and all the pocket options are fantastic. I’m looking forward to sewing up a wide leg cropped version for my daughter for summer.
mippsterk –
We have made 2 pairs of tapered (in corduroy) and 1 pair of wide leg trousers (in rust linen). The directions are so well written and give such professional-heirloom quality results. We have used back patch pockets, waist pockets, and side inseam pockets. They are so cleverly designed!
sonia barrish –
Such an easy quick sew! Look great on my 1yo and plenty of room for him to move like 1yo’s move; climbing, running and tumbling. Definitely planning on sewing more, next on the list is a soft shell pair for winter adventures!
Emerald Windsor –
Since I came across this pattern I’ve made 4 pairs! There are so many different variations due to the two different styles and pocket options. I love how quickly they come together and that there is a projector file which makes the whole thing so accessible and easy! This is a timeless pattern which offers endless possibilities for the wardrobe.
Nicole Schmiedicke –
The most difficult thing about this pattern… is deciding which option to sew first! After that, BTK’s thorough instructions and photo tutorial make everything else a breeze. I made the wide leg trousers in corduroy for my little girls and couldn’t be happier with this adorable addition to their adventuring wardrobe!
Jennifer Bramley –
I love these trousers and so does my son! I’ve made him about 4 pairs as pyjama trousers and they’ve superceded the paw patrol and pj masks PJ’s which is quite a feat. Also, the construction of the waist pockets is so genius, why doesn’t everyone do them this way?! It’s so simple (and the first time I was so excited I forgot to sew up the bottom before I attached it… oops! ). The instructions are clear and easy to follow, and the trousers come together so quickly. These will quickly become a staple!
illicium –
A very straight forward and clear pattern with a great fit. I sewed the 9yr size and I really enjoyed sewing the long tapered leg version. The inseam pockets are genius!
Naomi Radunovic –
Another gorgeous BTK Pattern! Love how versatile yet simple the Tio trousers are. With so many options, you can easily make an entire wardrobe full for all seasons. Plus, POCKETS!
Lina Ståhl –
Really easy to sew. I made both a pair of summerpants and a pair of pyjamapants to my eleven year old. The tapered version in full lenght. They are great and for a beginner on inseam pockets I must say that the instructions are so clear and made it both fun and rewarding to follow. Five stars no doubt!
Paulina Ellena –
What a lovely pattern! This is exactly what my boys love: comfy and roomy. The trousers give plenty of possibilities to find your own style, but whichever version you chose to make, they will always be comfy.
The instructions are exhaustive and explain every step it takes! The pictures are helpful and make the pattern accessible to almost every sewing skill level!!

Fantastic pattern! I just finished my first pair of Tio Trousers in the tapered version for my almost 5yr old and they are perfect on her. I really like the different pocket options, and I learnt a clever new way to sew the back pockets! I’ll definitely be using this pattern to make all her black uniform trousers once she starts school in months, and I’m looking forward to trying the wide leg version next!
Hannah Tan (verified owner) –
LOVE this pattern! So versatile. Easy construction and clear instructions. Thanks!

I really love these trousers, and am about to begin a third pair for my son – all with the exposed pockets so far, because they look great! They’re the perfect pants to withstand all his kindergarten adventures. The shape and fit are spot-on. At size 2 there’s plenty of room in the rise to accommodate cloth nappies, without looking too big if he’s in disposables.
