Rocking and rolling, the boat on the sea.
Rocking and rolling for you and for me.
Wind come and blow us so gently along,
Mermaids come guide us and sing us a song.
– Waldorf Summer verse
After the long leisurely sleep of Winter and the busy buzz of Springtime have passed, the lazy weeks of Summer stretch before us.
Brilliant bright blue skies, sparkling waters and sunny days beckon us to play; to swirl and twirl, to leap and frolic.
Inspired by Nature’s Summer palette of buttery marigolds, sunset pinks and glistening teals reflected all around us, my inspiration this season wasn’t hard to find.
Practicality meets fun and playfulness in this season’s make.
Not one, but two short-sleeve cotton-linen Kauri Dresses are featured, along with contrasting bias lining and covered buttons, lending an old-world, innocent charm.
Extra accessories include matching covered button hair ties and scrap-busting scrunchies from the Below The Kowhai tutorial.
Completing the beach-ready look are Summer essential jelly sandals and straw hat.
As they say, the true test of a garment’s worth is in the wearer’s love and appreciation of it.
There is something so truly magical about creating something that will be so well-loved for many more years to come.
Love and happy sewing,
